On this day 107 years ago on October 1, 1908, in a Detroit, Michigan plant on Piquette Avenue, the very first production of the Model T Ford was completed.

From that day on, history was made. In fact, starting in that same year up until 1927, around 15 million Model T cars were built!

But, none of these records could be shattered nor a day be named for the historic Model T without the creative mind of Henry Ford.

Mike otherwise known as “Spicy” (Special Operations) and Senior Corporate Designer & Engineer, Matt, take a spin on a Model T during a visit to the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village this past September.

Today, on Model T Day, we wanted to take a ride down memory lane and share some additional Henry Ford fun facts to show you that his story, just like yours, began with an idea.

Take some time to see yourself in Henry Ford’s story. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll be writing a blog about your invention!

• As a young boy, Ford was inspired by his mother, who encouraged his interest in tinkering. Who inspires you?
• His idea for the moving assembly line for car production came from the meat-packing industry. Where did your idea come from?
• When Ford was just a teenager, he gained inspiration from steam-powered tractors, which made him think about the way that things work. What inspires your creativity?
• Did you know that during World War I, Ford started the Ford Airplane Company? However, it was later shutdown in 1933 for lackluster sales. What adversities have you faced along your inventing journey?
• Henry Ford’s role model was Thomas Edison. Who’s your role model?

So, today, on Model T Day, we not only want to celebrate one of America’s greatest inventions, we also want to celebrate one of America’s greatest innovators, Henry Ford.

With that being said, we want to leave you with an inspiring quote from Henry Ford, “If I had asked my customers what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse.”
