Last month, HP made an announcement that they will punch their ticket into the world of 3D printing.
HP revealed that their Multi Jet Fusion technology will soon power new 3D commercial and manufacturing printers. This new innovation will make 3D printers more affordable and will print stronger products than any other printer on the market.
The goal of this HP project was to create 3D printers that could build objects at a higher resolution and at much faster rates. If you are familiar with how an inkjet printer produces documents, this 3D printer builds parts in a very similar way.
The “ink” is applied to a material coating that is then heated and fused together to build up layers. It’s this step alone that sets the HP Multi Jet Fusion technology apart from mainstream printers. According to HP, their printer has the potential to make products, like gears, at least 10 times faster than conventional manufacturing techniques.
Believe it or not, this 3D printer created a product that was strong enough to pick up a car and another product for the 3D printer that was printed by the 3D printer to prove the resolution. We must say, the latter example sounds very familiar to Inventionland. In fact, some of our 3D printers were built from parts that our 3D printers created!
But, back to HP’s 3D printers; additionally, the company has said that their printers will print colors with more accuracy than any other 3D printer on the market.
A prototype model was developed; however, their target audience for this printer as of late is for the manufacturing business.

We’ve heard it before, a company claiming that their 3D printer will make 3D printing more accessible. However, HP whole-heartedly backs their claim that they can make 3D printing more widely adopted than it is currently.
Unfortunately, we‘ll have to wait to find out if HP can live up to this claim, because this 3D printer won’t be available until 2016.
So, while consumers wait for HP’s newest 3D printer, in the meantime, they introduced the world to Sprout, a desktop computer that works as a dual-screen creative console that’s equipped with its own projector and 3D-capable scanner.
