This week on Univision network, the #1 Spanish language network in the United States, morning show Despierta America gave viewers an inside look at some of the coolest office spaces in the world! At Inventionland, we were excited to welcome reporter Luis Sandoval as he made the journey to visit us at Inventionland in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, following visits to Google and Facebook headquarters in Mountain View, California!

The morning show, some might say comparable to The Today Show or Good Morning America that many of us are familiar with, airs from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. EST Monday through Friday, featuring news and entertainment stories.

On Wednesday, Luis ventured to Google headquarters where fun facilities are aimed at “creating a creative and collaborative environment in which fresh ideas can be born,” according to the report.

On Thursday, Luis gave audiences an inside look at Facebook headquarters, where “state-of-the-art facilities include an exercise park, business premises, souvenir shops and free restaurants for employees,” per the report.

We loved getting a glimpse of both the Google and Facebook headquarters as it’s always great to see and relate to other innovative companies who also appreciate the value in fostering a creative work environment.

We may be biased in this opinion, but we’d like to believe reporter Luis Sandoval saved the best for last as his adventure to some of the coolest offices in the world landed him at Inventionland on today’s Friday airing, in which audiences got to know the facilities of Inventionland, “the most creative factory in the world,” as the report said.

At Inventionland, we know first-hand what it’s like to have a cool office space. That’s because our 61,000 square foot invention factory is comprised of 16 uniquely-themed sets where our Creationeers work to turn ideas into inventions.

So, when we discovered that Tesla was touting a cool office of its own, we had to explore!

Over the past 10 years, Tesla has continually been in the news as the company grows and expands its innovative efforts.

Located in Fremont, California, Tesla’s assembly plant is manned by more than 150 robots. It’s this type of creativity that left us craving more!

As a side note, this is the last major car factory that remains in California, so obviously being on its own, the Tesla plant had to be something special.

Let’s get right to the facts that build Tesla’s case as a cool office. First and foremost, the facility occupies 5.3 million square feet of manufacturing space. Yes, you read that right, 5.3 million square feet!

As soon as you enter this enormous plant, visitors are greeted by a row of Tesla prototypes, which is a true testament to the innovation that lives within the walls of this facility! Now, these prototypes range in characteristics. Some are wooden composites, others are the original iterations and, of course, this row of cars wouldn’t be complete without the first drivable Model S prototype.

Given that this is such an expansive space, rather than walk, Tesla employees navigate their way around the plant on bicycles – something our Creationeers can relate to as you’ll often see them zipping around Inventionland on scooters!

Before, we mentioned that the assembly line at the Tesla plant is run largely by robots – more than 150 to be exact. Well, these robots play an important role in the creation of Tesla products. For instance, they put together Tesla’s powertrain and some actually pick up the cars. The latter is known as the Mystique and these large robots are named after characters from Marvel’s X-Men.

The naming convention continues as two other robots that work in conjunction with one another were given the names Wolverine and the Iceman. Here’s how their system works:

A Model S approaches the robots; from there, the Wolverine is activated and lifts and rotates the car 180 degrees. It’s at this point that the Iceman is put into motion and receives the car from the Wolverine. The car, again, is turned 180 degrees by the Iceman and the car continues on its merry way down the production line.

Talk about precision!

We could go on and on about the Tesla plant; but, sometimes descriptions just can’t do it justice. Here’s a quick clip to give you an inside look at the Tesla assembly plant.

PayScale Career News is a company that’s compiled the world’s largest database of 54 million individual salary profiles for workers and employers to tap into their talent markets.

Recently, PayScale compiled yet another important list, one entitled, “These Might Be the 5 Coolest Offices in the US (and Canada).”

As you may have guessed, our 61,000-square-foot creative design facility was featured as one of the coolest offices!

In the article, PayScale writers preface the list by telling their readers to “Prepare for a major case of office envy – the only antidote to which is the solace you can take from knowing how hard it must be to get actual work done in offices this cool.”

Inventionland was featured among the likes of offices that include a Ferris Wheel, an indoor slide and even a space with a retrofitted stainless-steel diner!

Aside from these other great offices, the article went on to chronicle the ins and outs of our invention factory and even mentioned that Inventionland, “may not be new, but it’s by far one of the coolest office spaces in the country (and possibly the world).”

Wow – we are very flattered!

Yesterday, the Pittsburgh Business Times launched the first day of their Coolest Offices Month. In this month full of innovation, “the most interesting, inspiring and attractive office spaces in the Pittsburgh region” will be showcased each day throughout the month.

Where did the Pittsburgh Business Times’ Coolest Offices Month showcase begin? None other than our own creative design facility, Inventionland! Yes, we were featured as the first, coolest office of September!

Here are the cliff notes of what they had to say!

So, why do we have a cool office? Well, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times, and we echo these sentiments, our creative design facility “is America’s largest invention factory, where new products are designed, engineered and packaged by [our] creative professionals who work inside of 16-uniquely themed sets.”

The article also went on to say that, “Inventionland is a place for designers and innovators to let their creativity run wild.”
